(John 10:30) NIV; ESV; ASV reads:
30 “I and the Father are one.

  • So kung iintindihin ko lang ang verse na ito literally(not considering the whole context like Trinitarians did), hindi imposibli na mag-come up ako sa conclusion na si Son Jesus(2nd Person of the Trinity) ay si Father(1st Person of the Trinity)  lang pala talaga at likewise, si Father(1st Person of the Trinity) ay mismong si Son Jesus(2nd Person of the Trinity) din at the same time, right?  Peru dahil ayon kasi sa konsepto ng Trinity na si Father is not The Son pala at si Son is not The Holy Spirit(see here), then how can it be said that Jesus were being 'ONE' with the Father?

:: Simple lang! They reasoned that it's because they are UNITED 'ONE' in NATURE but not a UNITED 'ONE' in PERSON. Pretty good logic, right? But the TRUTH is, hindi kasi yan ang nasa isipan ni apostle John the time na isinulat niya ang kanyang liham. Bakit? And how do I know?  Please consider the following:

to be united most closely (in will, spirit), Jn x.30 [John 10:30]; xvii.11, 21-23 [John 17:11, 21-23]  —  (p. 186, Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, Baker Book House, tenth printing, August, 1984.)

:: So makikita natin na hindi nagkakahulogan ng united one in nature ang greek word na “HEN.” Kahit nga si J.H. Bernard isang Doctor of Divinity nagkomento tungkol sa John 10:30  sa kanyang aklat na “A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Gospel According to St. John.” Ayon pa ni Bernard:

A unity of fellowship, of will, and of purpose between the Father and the Son is a frequent theme in the Fourth Gospel..., and it is tersely and powerfully expressed here; but to press the words so as to make them indicate identity of ousia [Greek for ‘substance,’ ‘essence’], is to introduce thoughts that were not present to the theologians of the first century. —  [Bold and Underline mine]

:: So, klarong-klaro na walang itinuturo ang mga scholars tungkol sa greek word na HEN” na ito'y nagkakahulogan ng united one in nature rather, they are “ONE” in “WILL” and in “PURPOSE.”

(John 17:21, 22) NIV:
21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—

:: So  idinalangin ni Jesus ang kaniyang mga tagasunod na: “That they may all be one,”(NWT) and he added, “that they may be one even as we are one.”(NWT) So as I said, John uses the same greek word (HEN) for “ONE” here in all these instances(kahit e-check niyo pa sa mga available bible concordances online). Sa gayon, it's not going to be a TRINITY at all but rather, it becomes a MANYNITY

:: So, anong kahulugan ba talaga ang ipinahihiwatig ng buong konteksto?? Simple! It only means that they do come to share a “ONENESS” of purpose(obviously not in substance kasi if substance pala, eh di as what I've said, pati rin pala ang mga disciples ni Jesus ay nagshe-share din sa substance sa TRIUNE GOD because they're all said to be ONE) with the Father and the Son, the same sort of oneness that unites God and Christ.
